I could start this text saying that I really love to travel and discover new cultures, but since you are already on this page, you probably like that too, so instead I’m going to tell you my story and hope it reaches to you all: the undecided people that still didn’t make the move into an international mobility experience. Choosing to go to another country and start something new is like being a new kind of nomad; detached from almost all, and being in constant pursuit of learning. The beginning of the adventure is a mix of feelings. It’s part of the adventure not knowing what to expect and what you’ll find, but the motivation to arrive at a new place, with all the ambition to learn and share is stronger.
The opportunity for a professional internship arrived at the perfect time in my life. I didn’t have so much working opportunities in my country so I decided to apply to a Leonardo da Vinci programme.
After having searched a lot for different projects, Spain and Barcelona in particular draw my attention because of the project in a non-governmental organization called NEXES, and of course the opportunity to travel to Spain and to know more about this neighbouring country. And after a few weeks waiting I was selected!
Soon uncertainty turned into the conviction that I was in the right place! Being with a multicultural team with extensive experience in European projects and international cooperation has allowed me to develop professional skills in my study field (international relations). I have been in contact with local and foreign youth groups, acquired deep knowledge and new working ways that empowered me professionally as well as personally. It allowed me to meet new challenges, overcome difficulties, go beyond my barriers and it has given me the opportunity to develop confidence in skills that I didn’t knew I had.
I’ve shared a lot and I still carry with me memories of good times and people that influenced me. Nowadays I’m back in Barcelona, the city that opened the doors for me, with new working opportunities and more challenges to overcome. So now it´s your time….I challenge you! And hope that one day I will be able to read about your experience.

Podría empezar este texto diciendo que me encanta viajar y descubrir nuevas culturas, pero si ya estás en esta página, es probable que tu también, así que voy a contar mi historia y espero que llegue a todas aquellas personas indecisas que siguen sin dar el paso a una experiencia de movilidad internacional. La elección de ir a otro país y empezar algo nuevo es como ser un nuevo tipo de nómada; desprendiéndose de casi todo, y en constante búsqueda de aprendizaje. El comienzo de la aventura es una mezcla de sentimientos. Hace parte de la aventura, no saber que esperar y que se va a encontrar, pero la motivación en llegar a un nuevo destino con toda la ambición de aprender y compartir es más fuerte.
La oportunidad en hacer una práctica profesional llegó en un momento perfecto en mi vida. Como no tenía muchas oportunidades de trabajo en mi país, he decidido candidatarme al programa Leonardo da Vinci.
Después de buscar muchos proyectos, España y Barcelona en particular han atraído mi atención por el proyecto interesante en una organización no gubernamental llamada NEXES, y claro, también la oportunidad de conocer mejor mi país vecino. Después de algunas semanas de espera fui escogida!
Pronto la incertidumbre se transformó en la convicción que estaba en el lugar correcto! Estar con un equipo multicultural, con una amplia experiencia en proyectos europeos y cooperación internacional, me ha permitido desarrollar habilidades profesionales en mi campo de estudio (relaciones internacionales).
He estado en contacto con grupos de jóvenes locales y extranjeros y profundizado conocimientos y nuevos métodos de trabajo que me han enriquecido profesionalmente y personalmente.
Me ha permitido encarar nuevos desafíos, superar dificultades, ir más allá de mis límites y me dio la oportunidad y confianza para desarrollar nuevas habilidades, que ni sabía que tenía.
He compartido mucho y llevo conmigo recuerdos de buenos momentos y personas que me han influenciado. Hoy he vuelto a Barcelona, la ciudad que me abrió las puertas, con nuevas oportunidades de trabajo y más retos para superar. Ahora es tu oportunidad. Te desafío! Y espero que un día pueda leer sobre de tu experiencia.
