Erasmus experience was a profitable and awesome opportunity to improve my English, become more independent and make new friendships

My name is Manuel Pérez Carrasco, I finished my degree in English during the academic years 2007/2011. The degree was focused on English literature and linguistics so I did not only learn about English culture and litera-ture but also about linguistics, grammar and pronunciation. That is the reason why I wanted to go abroad for a year as an exchange student. I decided to choose Loughborough (England), a small town with a huge university. Loughborough University was mostly known for sport and science.
I really enjoyed my experience there since I was interested in learning more about the English culture and its customs. Moreover, I am quite extrovert and talkative and I could meet people from many different countries there. In addition, living in a different country on my own helped me to become more independent and respon-sible.
Before that experience I had never spoken English for more than two hours. I could improve my oral skills by interacting with acquaintances, classmates and friends. Furthermore, I travelled all over England: London, Ox-ford, Cambridge, Nottingham, Birmingham, Derby among other cities. Therefore, I knew England from a dif-ferent perspective by living, travelling and sightseeing there.
To sum up, in my opinion the Erasmus experience was a profitable and awesome opportunity to improve my English, get close to its culture, become more independent and make new friendships.
