Giulia – European citizen in Vienna

Since I graduated I wanted to experience and get to know “European features” concerning the job related to my technical field, therefore I decided to take advantage on any kind of grant in order to learn and eventually improve other languages and try to work abroad.
I engaged myself to do my best at the Austrian Institute of Technology, the company in which I did my internship…all that ended up signing a contract when I finished!
I was and I am still living in one of the best European city with one of the highest life standard… VIENNA! This is the reason why I decided to do any kind of efforts in order to carry on to work in this country.
From the personal side, I guess that you can get closer to evaluate with a more open approach either extraordinary or ordinary situations. Day by day (with flat mates, colleagues, and friends), you have to test yourself to be suitable to different lifestyles. It´s hard, but I feel a more open minded person.
From the professional point of view, I give my support to the company thanks to my previous experiences and, on the other side, I am able to adapt myself and to fit into their way of working, rules and approach.
I feel that this mobility experience helped me to feel as a real European citizen, I mean that I feel somehow that this mobility made me able to “cross” any kind of borders (culturally, from a linguistic point of view and considering different habits) and gave the perspective that there is actually no border that need to be crossed since we all are part of a bigger and comprehensive community.
I strongly believe that keeping in touch with other cultures (in the work routine as well as in in the daily life) is a great chance. This aspect is able to increase the quality level in your work style and in your social life, and mostly in your personal behavior.
I have already suggested my friends not to miss the chance to take part in such an experience….for sure I would recommend it! I guess that using these European funds is one of the best opportunity to introduce ourselves in an European contest.
Da quando mi sono laureata ho sempre desiderato di poter fare esperienza all‘estero per conoscere le “Caratteristiche Europee” del mio settore tecnico di specializzazione. Questa curiositá mi ha spinta a cercare di sfruttare ogni tipo di borsa di studio, in modo da poter imparare e approfondire la conoscenza di altre lingue, e perché no, magari avere l’opportunitá di lavorare all’estero.
Ho fatto del mio meglio durante il mio stage presso l´Austrian institute of Technology…tutto ció ha avuto come risultato un contratto da firmare alla fine del mio internship! In quel momento vivevo (e tuttora vivo) in una delle migliori cittá a livello europeo, caratterizzata da uno dei piú alti standard di vivibilitá … VIENNA! Questo é il motivo per cui ho deciso di impegarmi il piu´possibile di modo da poter continuare a lavorare in questo paese.
Da un punto di vista strettamente personale, ritengo che si posssa avere una visione a 360° delle situazioni ordinarie e straodinari. Giorno dopo giorno, (con I tuoi coinquilini, colleghi e amici) é una sfida con te stesso per poterti adattare a diversi stili di vita. E´complicato, certo, ma penso di esere diventata davvero una persona piú aperta.
Dal punto di vista professionale, ho supportato l´azienda grazie alle mie esperienze pregresse e sono stata in grado di adattarmi al loro “modo” di lavorare,… alle regole.
Penso che questa esperienza di mobilita´ mi abbia aiutata a sentirmi una vera cittadina europea e con cio´intendo dire che questa esperienza mi ha resa capace di superare qulasiais tipo di “confine” (culturale, linguistico e a livello di abitudini) e mi ha dato la percezione che non c’é alcun tipo di “confine” che non puó essere superato, dato che facciamo tutti parte di una vastissima comunitá.
Credo che entrare in contatto con altre culture (nell´ambito lavorativo cosi come nella vita di tutti i giorni) rappresenti un grande trampolino di lancio.
Questo aspetto puó migliorare la qualitá sul posto di lavoro e della proprio vita sociale.
Ho gia´consigliato a tutti i miei amici di non perdere l´occasione di partecipare ad un esperienza del genere… Penso che utilizzare I fondi europei sia una delle occasioni migliori per affacciarsi sul contesto europeo.
