My name is Carlo Donadio, I am a 38 years old guy living in Grossetto, in the heart of the Maremma Toscana in Italy.
In 2010, once I was finished with my first cycle of university studies, I found by chance an announcement from the Follonica municipality concerning an international mobility project with the Programme Leonardo. They assigned me Barcelona as a destination and I left with enthusiasm thinking that this experience would positively change my perception of the future. I was unemployed and still living with my family. I tried different experiences in the working field but they finally seem all to be chanceless and I really needed to get away from this routine in order to experience something new and different and get some original ideas.
From my stay in Barcelona I can’t think about anything negative, everything was incredibly perfect, from the welcome to the language course until the accommodation (the woman who hosted me for 3 months was an excellent cook!) Moreover, in Barcelona there is a Buddhist cultural centre from SGI where I take part and I could do different activities with Spanish members. Furthermore, this summer the Spanish national football team won for the first time the World Cup.
I have done a professional Internship as educational assistant at the Fundaciò Social del Raval, an extraordinary practice thanks to which I gain significant work experience in field such as relationships, organisation, and to deal with different situations. But above all, I established wonderful friendships with other educator and youths.
I was really close to find a job in a game room in an educational centre, but unfortunately my level of Catalan and Castellan was not enough high in order to do this kind of job.
Therefore a little bit unwillingly I went back to Italy, but I went back enhanced by this experience which taught me to express my skills and to find new opportunities for my job. Actually I am still unemployed but I won’t stop to look at the future with hope.
Mi chiamo Carlo Donadio, ho 38 anni e abito a Grosseto, nel cuore della Maremma toscana, in Italia.
Nel 2010, terminato il primo ciclo di studi universitari, mi imbatto per caso in un bando del Comune di Follonica per un progetto di mobilità internazionale all’interno del Programma Leonardo.
Come destinazione mi è toccata Barcelona e sono partito con l’entusiastica convinzione di fare un’esperienza che avrebbe allargato la mia visione del futuro. Ero disoccupato e vivevo ancora con la mia famiglia, in ambito lavorativo ho tentato varie strade, ma si sono rivelate tutte dei vicoli ciechi, sentivo il bisogno di allontanarmi da quella routine per provare qualcosa di diverso e nuovo in modo da poter ripartire con idee originali.
Del mio soggiorno a Barcelona non riesco a ricordarmi nulla di spiacevole, era tutto incredibilmente perfetto, dall’accoglienza, al corso di lingua, all’alloggio ( la signora che mi ha ospitato per tre mesi era un’ottima cuoca! ), inoltre anche a Barcelona c’è un centro culturale buddista della SGI di cui faccio parte e ho potuto svolgere varie attività con i membri spagnoli. E infine, in quella estate la nazionale di calcio spagnola vince il suo primo Mondiale.
Ho svolto il tirocinio professionale alla Fundaciò Social del Raval come assistente educatore, un’esperienza straordinaria grazie alla quale ho maturato competenze lavorative veramente significative nel campo delle relazioni, negli aspetti organizzativi e nel saper affrontare diverse situazioni; ma soprattutto ho instaurato bellissimi legami di amicizia sia con gli educatori che con i ragazzi.
Per poco non trovavo lavoro come ludotecario in un centro educativo, ma la mia modesta padronanza linguistica del castigliano e del catalano, non mi rendevano adatto a ricoprire un ruolo educativo.
Perciò sono tornato in Italia un pò a malincuore, ma ricco di un’esperienza che mi ha insegnato a dare espressione alle mie capacità e vedere nuove opportunità per il mio lavoro. Attualmente sono sempre disoccupato ma non voglio smettere di pensare al futuro con speranza.
