In the 20th century after a dark period of European History the foundation for the European project became reality. Its fundamental aspects are culture, education, training as a basis for innovation and development of a full European citizenship.

The European programmes and initiatives are a particularly useful instrument for promoting mobility and developing a sense of European identity. The importance of the experience of transnational mobility in the framework of the European Policies is mostly recognised as opportunity of learning at a personal level, for the individuals, for the development of a sense of initiative, entrepreneurship, capacity of communication, new professional skills, intercultural dialogue and as concrete education to the European citizenship. The evaluation of the impact is normally assessed at the end of the mobility experience, but a more general analysis of the systemic projects’ impact in a longitudinal perspective and on a more wide scale is not so obvious and documented at European level. As it has been stated in the Green paper on mobility “ it’s still difficult to have a panoramic point of view of the changes in the professional careers of young people related to their participation at transnational mobilities”.

The challenge of evaluating and disseminating the impact of international mobility experiences in the frame of EU programmes in a longitudinal perspective of a group of former participants led the MOB G.A.E. consortium on the 24th and 25th of January to the kick off meeting in Firenze.

The consortium consists of 18 partners coming from all over Europe and most of them have been working with mobility programmes for over 10 years. During the meeting the representatives of all partners had the chance to get to know each other and learn more about their organisations. The partners established a reliable work plan and time table for the next planned activities.
