A Story by Raquel Valenzuela

Country of Origin: Spain

Destination: Vietnam

Environmentally friendly was a long-term project about environment and education with 3 mobilities to Lithuania (training course), Vietnam (Youth exchange) and Germany (evaluation seminar) and local activities.

In this project I was offered to be the youth leader. Since I was active in the local and international field, this was a great opportunity to learn and develop, and a big challenge for me.

In the international field, we met people from Europe and Asia. We found our similarities and differences. Specially when it came the concept of non-formal education; Europeans had similar approaches, while Asian had to make a special effort to understand it. Non formal education is being supported a lot in Europe, through European and national programs, and it’s also part of our culture in a way. That’s why I felt we Europeans, even if we are very different, we are very much alike.

We have a webpage with several videos and pictures: www.efriendly.eu

In the local field we met and discovered collectives and associations working in the topic we had chosen: food waste. We made many activities: workshops, conferences, cons tests and the production of a calendar.

We made a video collecting our local activities: www.youtube.com/watch?v=estSI32AfsA

Participating in International projects gives you the opportunity to grow up, learn and develop both in the personal and professional field. I saw it on me and in all the young people had participated in an international project: they are live changing experiences.
