I flew to Berlin with only one way ticket. From the start it seemed to me that main aim of my travel was 6 months long Erasmus experience in the Humboldt University, but Berlin has fascinated me really soon. The Erasmus experience started to turn into something more, full of life and diversity: get to know the culture and a new language, at the same time I was looking deeper into me.

I decided to extend my stay in Berlin for another six months.

I really still appreciate very much the day when, even not being totally sure, I applied for the grant abroad. The learning process is something that is continuously with us and probably encourages for living. Learning shows us how to love, to get to know ourselves and to understand the world we live in, much better, to respect, to listen to others and express our opinions. If something defines my stay in Berlin, those are things that I´ve learnt there. They brought more quality and strength to my professional and personal life. Just for this reason I recommend everybody to get this kind of experience.

The social experience is also unavoidable. To know other people, similar or totally different from you, break taboos and discover and exchange with people from different parts of the Earth linguistic, religious, geographic, etc. varieties. This experience gave me a precious knowledge, confidence and emotional intelligence.

I went to Berlin in 2010 without return ticket but I returned to Barcelona in 2014 with a train full of emotions. It seemed that the Berlin experience finished at that moment, however I really continued with this experience because the reason that helped me to come back to my home town was another mobility program, in this case already Leonardo. A program that has opened me doors to my personal and professional self-fulfilment in the field of music and cultural management.

In the same way that Erasmus was the reason and prelude of what I would live in Berlin, the Leonardo Program was the door for a professional moment where finally and with 25 years old I could start working in something that I really love: the culture like a frame for learning, expression, relationships and knowledge.

Interesting is that at the end both programs remind me of important personalities that did of the mobility a way to be, learn, create and share: Erasmus von Rotterdam and Leonardo da Vinci.

Una historia de Martí Sancliment

Viajaba en 2010 hacia Berlín sin billete de vuelta. Pareciera que dicho viaje tenía al principio un motivo principal; desarrollar en la Humboldt Universität zu Berlin un programa de estudios Erasmus de seis meses. Pronto la ciudad me acogió y me cautivó. La experiencia de estudios se convertía en algo mucho más vital para mi, conocer una cultura y una lengua distintas a la vez que indagaba más sobre mi mismo. Decidí quedarme medio año más y continuar con los estudios en dicha universidad.

Agradezco aún el día en que, sin tener absoluta seguridad de lo que hacía, entregué mi petición para llevar a cabo un programa de estudios en el extranjero. Aprender es algo a lo que estamos todos expuestos y posiblemente uno de los principales motivos que nos animan a vivir un día tras otro. Aprender nos enseña a amar, a conocernos mejor a nosotros mismos, a comprender más ampliamente el mundo en el que vivimos, a respetar, a oir y a opinar. Si algo define mi estancia en Berlín fue la calidad y la intensidad de lo que aprendí y solo por este motivo merece ya recomendar a todos aquellos que se plantean una experiencia similar, lanzarse y probarla.

La experiencia humana es también ineludible. Conocer a otros, iguales o distintos a mi mismo, romper tabúes, compartir y descubrir qué hay en otros que vienen de tierras lejanas a nivel cultural, lingüístico, religioso o geográfico… Todo me ha llenado de conocimientos y de confianza y ha desarrollado mi inteligencia emocional.

Viajaba en 2010 hacia Berlín sin billete de vuelta y volvía a Barcelona en tren a finales de 2014. Pareciera que la experiencia berlinesa había acabado, sin embargo, la sigo llevando lejos, pues también aquello que me impulsó a volver a mi ciudad natal fue otro programa de movilidad, Leonardo, un programa que me abría las puertas a mi autorealización profesional en el campo de la música y de la gestión cultural. De la misma forma que el programa Erasmus se convirtió en excusa y preludio de lo que viviría intensamente luego en Berlín, el programa Leonardo era la puerta que me facilitaba el acceso a un mundo profesional de calidad, donde finalmente y con veinticinco años podía empezar a dedicarme profesionalmente a algo que me llena y me satisface enormemente; la cultura como marco de aprendizaje, de expresión, de relación y de conocimiento.

Y curioso es que, al final de todo, ambos programas recuerdan a dos figuras que hicieron de la movilidad una forma de ser, de aprender, de crear y de compartir, Erasmus van Rotterdam y Leonardo da Vinci.
