When I heard of the possibility to participate in ERASMUS program, I didn’t look back and apply immediately! It was the opportunity I had to meet, learn and explore new contents and professional areas and also be able to experience greater personal autonomy.
With the full car, I start this adventure with a friend from my university, and I arrived to Madrid on the 28th January, 2008, where I stayed for four months. It was, with no doubts, an amazing experience at several levels. I managed to do an internship at CEPI – Centro Hispano Marroqui, where I worked with immigrants from northern Africa, enhancing their socio-cultural and professional integration in the community of Madrid. I learned Spanish and I had an easy adaptation the context. Madrid is a luminous city with a rich and diverse cultural offer. Multiculturalism is present, from the dividing neighborhoods from Lavapies, where is the largest Moroccan community of Madrid and where we can enjoy delicious foods, until Chueca, where we can find a variety of art galleries and nice bars.
Participate in this mobility was, in fact, a wise choice, that allowed me to get a bigger knowledge and promoted new links between Portuguese (Me), Spanich, Moroccans, Algerians, Senegalese, Ecuadorians, and so on, in a win-win situation.
Even today, after six years, I keep in contact with friends in Madrid! It was, indeed, an unforgettable experience!
Quando soube da possibilidade de poder participar no Programa ERASMUS, não olhei para trás e candidatei-me. Era a oportunidade que eu tinha para poder conhecer, aprender e explorar novos conteúdos e experiências profissionais e também de poder vivenciar uma maior autonomia pessoal.
Com o carro cheio parti à aventura, com uma amiga do curso, e fui para Madrid a 28 de Janeiro de 2008, onde permaneci durante 4 meses. Foi sem dúvida uma ótima experiência a vários níveis. Consegui fazer um estágio no CEPI – Centro Hispano Marroqui, onde trabalhei com imigrantes do norte de áfrica com vista à sua integração sociocultural e profissional na comunidade de Madrid. Aprendi o castelhano e consegui adaptar-me muito bem ao contexto. Madrid é uma cidade luminosa com uma oferta cultural rica e diversificada. A multiculturalidade apresenta-se pela divisão de bairros desde Lavapiés, onde está a maior comunidade marroquina de Madrid, e onde podemos degustar ótimas iguarias, à Chueca, onde podemos encontrar uma variedade de galerias de arte e bares muito agradáveis.
Foi sem dúvida uma escolha acertada que me permitiu obter um maior know-how e que promoveu sinergias entre uma portuguesa (eu), espanhóis, marroquinos, argelinos, senegaleses, equatorianos, etc., onde todos saímos a ganhar. Ainda hoje, passados 6 anos, mantenho o contato com amigos madrilenos. Foi uma experiência inesquecível!
