English version

I took part in a mobility experience for several reasons. Obviously to improve my ability in speaking English but also to gain work experience, to travel, learn how to do different types of work, visit a new city and become familiar with a new culture.

I did not stay in Derry as I had to return to Italy for my education. I would love to return in the future and maybe look for work here.

Mobility has brought a lot to all aspects of my life. I am much more confident, open-minded and independent than before I left when I had never spent any long period of time away from home. I am confident in my own ability to travel by myself and I think I would be happier to travel alone in the future if I ever decided to look for work in another country. I feel like I am more open-minded with regards to other cultures and I realize that it is fun to experience other ways of life and other traditions.

I feel more like a European citizen now as I have stayed with an Irish family and I can say that I am more informed about the Irish culture. Although there are cultural differences there are also a lot of similarities which makes me feel more connected with other European countries. I would advise my friends to take part in a mobility project as it is a great way to meet new people, experience life in another country, gain work experience in an English-speaking country and it looks good on your CV. I am proud that I have taken part in such a project at a young age and it is something that I will never forget.
