I wanted to experience the ideal of “United Europe”

My previous life and study experiences abroad were nothing compared to the Erasmus experience. I participated in this amazing project during the academic year 2010/2011 in Jaen, a lovely and welcoming town in the heart of Andalucia. Thanks to those months in Spain I changed in a very positive way, and the only reason why I came back to Italy was to finish my Law degree. In fact, when I was at the airport waiting for my plane back to Milan, I promised myself that once graduated I would have applied for some other European project to return to Spain. And so it was. Last November, while I was browsing web sites dealing with European mobility, I found a Leonardo Da Vinci Project in the field of youth policy. My desire to leave and get in the game again was great. Once again, I wanted to experience the ideal of “United Europe”, but in a different way: not as a student but as a trainee. My expectations were all fulfilled: I was chosen for an internship in Seville at the “Fundacion Juventud y Cultura” that deals with European Mobility Projects. Now here I am, in one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, taking the first steps in the labour market and doing what I consider the job of my life: a dynamic, challenging and interactive job which allow you to work in a multilingual and multicultural environment. That is why I am trying to learn as much as possible, because this experience deserves to be lived intensely. I do not know where I am going to live in the next future, whether in Italy or Spain, but I am open to any possibility. What I know is that, thanks to this experience and to the previous ones, I am a better person now, both in a humane and professional sense.
Personally, I think that everyone should make at least one experience abroad to be able to open his mind and broaden his horizons. To experience other cultures and live in close contact with them is the most important requisite to define a European citizenship. My dream is to make a passion a job, because I fully believe in the importance of supporting young students in building their character in an international environment.

Le mie precedenti esperienze di soggiorno all’estero non furono nulla comparate a quella dell’Erasmus, che feci nel 2010/2011 a Jaen, una cittadina viva e accogliente nel cuore dell’Andalucia. Quei mesi in Spagna, che per me furono troppo pochi, mi cambiarono profondamente e l’unico motivo per cui decisi di tornare in Italia fu per terminare il mio percorso accademico in Giurisprudenza. Infatti, quando salí sull’aereo per Milano mi ripromisi che, una volta laureata, avrei cercato qualche progetto europeo per tornare in Spagna. E cosí é stato. A novembre, mentre spulciavo sui siti di bandi di mobilitá europea, trovai quello dell’Accademia Europea di Firenze che selezionava tirocinanti nell’ambito delle politiche giovanili per uno degli ultimi progetti del Programma Leonardo. Il mio desiderio di partire e mettermi in gioco nuovamente era grande. Volevo un’altra volta toccare con mano il significato di “Europa Unita” a questo giro peró non come studentessa, bens¡ come lavoratrice per vivere un’esprienza completamente diversa e crescere ancora . Le mie aspettative si realizzarono tutte : fui scelta per la mia prima destinazione, Sevilla, per svolgere un tirocinio nell’ambito della mobilitá europea presso la Fundacion Juventud e Cultura ! Ora eccomi qui, in una delle piú belle cittá europee, a muovere i primi passi nel modo lavorativo che vorrei fosse il mio anche da “grande”, in un contesto dinamico, stimolante e interattivo da cui cerco di assorbire il piú possibile perchà l’occasione che mi è capitata merita di essere vissuta intensamente. Dove saró domani non lo so, se in Italia o in Spagna, non mi precludo nulla, di certo saró una persona piú ricca umanamente e anche professionalmente.
A chiunque me lo chiede, rispondo sempre che tutti dovrebbero fare almeno un’esprienza all’estero per potersi evolvere ed ampliare le proprie vedute. Confrontarsi con altre cultere e viverci a stretto contatto è fondamentale per potersi definiré “ cittadini europei”. Sono infatti seriamente convinta dell’importanza di sostenere i giovani a partire e a formarsi in un contesto internazioale e, per tal motivo, ho scelto, se ne avró la possibilitá, di lavorare in questo settore, rendendo una passione un lavoro.
